Committee Reports: Maryellen Brucato
Dine- Outs: Dina English
Our next dine-out is Wednesday, 3/19 at Wendy’s from 5-8 pm. For any sales during that 1me, they donate 15% back to us. It’s usually our best dine-out. Possible ice cream social at Scribble Garden in May where 10% will be donated back to Hillview. Jersey Johnny’s will be our June
dine-out. It’s usually the day before the last day of school.
Soiree: Dina English
Our ticket sales have closed. We have 265 tickets sold. We have great prizes. We are a month out. Our VIP sales kicked off this week. We are asking each student to sell a minimum of 1 ticket each. They can either fill out a blue 1cket or complete a Google form. Each student who sells a ticket will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 voucher to the Book Fair. Bundle sales will begin the second week of March.
Read-a-thon: Kristen Zalewski
Super fun and successful! Thank you everyone for par1cipa1ng. We raised about $16,292. 100 percent of that will be donated back to the outdoor reading garden, soh sea1ng in the library, and some new books. There were about 155 kids par1cipa1ng. Our top place earner got
Bookwormy at their home, the second-place winner was a librarian for the day, and the third-place earner got a $50 gift card to Dave & Busters. The top readers got bookmarks and certificates.
Mural: Kristen Zalewski
The mural and paw prints look great. Our profit from the paw print fundraiser is a little over $2300. Check them out next 1me you are in school.
Food Drive: John Pires
We had about 240 items. 2S was in first place with 90 items donated. They had a pizza party for donating the most items. The pantry was super grateful!
KISS Dance: Ashley Gaccione & Jessica Zittel
We are at 250 registra1ons so far. Photobooth and DJ have confirmed. We got a lot of décor from the dollar store and Party City. We will be decora1ng right after school next week and the doors open at 7 pm.
Science Fair: Maryellen Brucato
The Science Fair was super successful. We were able to purchase Panther Paw medals for each participant. Tablecloths were added to each table this year. Clean-up was much easier. There were a lot of good projects. Thank you to the committee for all of your help.
Box Tops, LiJle Stephanie Straface
Informa@onal Topics:
½ Day Snack Sales: Kristen Zalewski
Our next sale will be March 4th. That information will probably go out tomorrow. We will be doing pretzels again. A gluten-free soh pretzel will be a new op1on from Defying Gravitea. We also have added the cheese sauce option that has been a hit.
Field Day T-Shirt Design: Kristen Zalewski
Every year the HSA hosts a Field Day T-Shirt design contest. Students have the chance to do a submission and it’s usually voted on by the staff. Keep your eyes out for that probably by the end of February. HSA purchases the shirts for every student. Also, be on the lookout for a spring
fundraiser where welcome mats will be sold.
Yankee Tickets: Dina English
Registration is open. We have 8 tickets left at the field level section and 25 tickets left at the main level section. With those tickets you get entry, a $15 voucher to use on refreshments, and a free Yankee backpack. The game is Friday, May 2nd at 7 pm. Payment will be due April 1st. All of
the 1ckets purchased will be grouped in our section.

Welcome to the November HSA mee1ng. Please sign in for attendance.
Principal’s Remarks: Mrs. Stager
Mrs. Stager was unable to attend. However, most things she would have men1oned will be
covered throughout the mee1ng.
Minutes Update: Lauren Diakakis
Mee1ng minutes are uploaded to the drive and HSA website within a few days of each mee1ng
and are available for public viewing.
Treasurer’s Report: John Pires
We’re doing really well. School pictures came in at $1026. Dine-Out Wendy’s was $536 and Dina
has the newer dine-out numbers. We have numbers for Wizards and Soiree presale, but they’re
so good that I will let the others share them with you.
Vice President’s Report: Jessica Zittel- HSA Directory
We had 149 families enrolled. The hard copy directory was distributed on November 4th and
went home with the oldest child. The digital copies were emailed and can also be found on the
HSA website with a password protec1on. There are extras in case anyone else enrolls. Profited
about $3300.
Correspondence Secretary’s Report: Stephanie Straface
Thank you notes from Mrs. Kane- Thank you for the delicious breakfast and all you do for us
throughout the year.
Committee Reports: Maryellen Brucato
Jump Rope for Heart- Shell McKay: We had over 60 parent volunteers. We brought in $10,129.
Last year was just over $7,000. Definitely a big increase from last year. We had 54 students
register online last year and this year we had 147. Total student par1cipants this year were 367.
Pizza party was an added bonus. Going forward maybe we should always use that incen1ve.
This year Finn’s Mission was a chance to win 1ckets to the Super Bowl. Five students
par1cipated in that.
Halloween Pumpkin Contest- Maryellen Brucato: It’s on Halloween. All pumpkins are displayed
in the APR and students come up during their lunch periods to vote for the one they like best.
We had 18 students par1cipate this year. The winner received a $20 gig card donated by
Marco’s. We did candy corn guessing games and that winner received a $10 gig card to Marco’s.
Jordan Schwartz, a 4th grade student, won for decora1ng a Lilo and S1tch pumpkin. Possibly
having the board consider making a committee for it in the future.
Meadow Farms- Jessica Zittel: Our goal was $7,475 and we ended with $7,373 so about $100
shy of goal. We s1ll need to get the finalized numbers once everything ships. We sold 445 items
and had 120 orders in total. We will be doing a $50 Amazon gig raffled off to everyone who
par1cipated. Considering we didn’t do frozen baked goods this year, we s1ll did very well.
Dine- Outs- Dina English: We made $536.10 from Wendy’s, $457.68 from Jersey Mike’s and
$146.94 from Moe’s. Total profit this year so far is $1,140.72. That’s a good start for dine-outs.
Our next one is December 18th at Panera.
Firetruck Fundraiser- Dina English: Great par1cipa1on. $1,145 in 1cket sales. We will be making
a dona1on to Company 1 in Pequannock so the revenue will be a liMle lower. Next Wednesday
(day before Thanksgiving) Ellen and Owen Donahue will ride into school on the firetruck while
everyone lines up outside to welcome them (weather permitting).
Blanket Fundraiser- Kristen Zalewski: We had 2 great design op1ons. The company that’s making
them is a veteran, women and teacher owned business. They’ve been great to work with. We’ve
sold 154 blankets and have 20 leg for sale at the Crag Fair. We can report profits at the next
mee1ng.
Wizards- Kristen Zalewski: The Hillview Panthers played the Harlem Wizards Monday 11/11 at
the High School. We had an amazing turnout with 418 1ckets sold. Everyone was so excited to
see our Hillview staff take on the Harlem Wizards. A group of 5th grade students kicked off the
night with a beau1ful rendi1on of Star-Spangled Banner and then the DJ, along with our staff
scorekeepers (and Bookwormy) got the game going. It was quite a show and the Wizards and
our Panthers staff kept the energy going all night. A BIG THANK YOU to our staff for playing in
the game. You all were so fun to watch and your students and their families were so excited to
cheer you on. And, thank you to all the many volunteers that helped, whether it was working at
the game or dona1ng concessions, thank you. Last, thank you everyone for purchasing 1ckets
and coming out for this fun, ac1on packed, family night out. Because of all of you, we raised
just under $12,000.
Holiday Apparel Sale- Nicole Kosmack: No update at the moment. She’s away this week. For
those of you who don’t know, we’ve decided to do another apparel sale for the holidays with
some cool op1ons to check out winter gear, etc.
Box Tops- Stephanie Straface: Little Bites needs to be 5 pounds in order to send it in. It’s close so
should be ready soon. We have 545 points and 187.4 pounds recycled. On Box Tops, Hillview
has $31.30. It’s easy to scan receipt or forward your digital receipt to get points.
Craft Fair- Jen Vuk: So far, we have about 50 vendors. About 6 or 7 food trucks. There is a good
variety to make sure there aren’t a lot of duplicates. Floor plan is almost complete. May spill
into the hallway. Santa and Grinch will be floa1ng around to take pictures. High School
volunteers can help volunteer with loading and unloading that day. They can sign up for 1me
slots. 5th graders will be helping to run the bake sale table, as well. Only 5 volunteers to bake so
far. All baked goods must be individually packaged and not contain nuts. Worst case scenario
the HSA can purchase some goods.
Soiree- Dina English: We have $21,060 in 1ckets sale. A majority of that goes to the castle. Most
of the profit comes from the bundles and sales that night. We just pushed out the sponsorships
and will be reaching out to the committee and past sponsorships.
Giving Tree- Shell McKay: Looking for different op1ons this year and where we will be spreading
the love. We are trying to increase par1cipa1on. We will s1ll be focusing on hats, gloves and
scarves. We are changing the ornaments. We want families to par1cipate. We will be setting up
the tree right before Thanksgiving.
Holiday Boutique- Maryellen Brucato: Scheduled for 12/5. The committee got an email to start
signing up to volunteer. All items have been purchased. We s1ll need more pet items. Other
than that, everything is done. A table will be set up for kids who don’t have money to color
coupon books as gigs. One bag will be given to each student.
Eyes of the Wild- Christina Wiswesser: We were able to reschedule it for the day after
conferences which the teachers appreciated. Travis did the presenta1on. He brought a
hedgehog, a baby alligator, an armadillo, a sugar glider and a porcupine. It was broken into two
assemblies K-2 and 3-5. He talked about animal habitats, behavior and diet. He’s also a
comedian so the kids and teachers had a blast!
Half Day Snack – Kristen Zalewski: 12/10 will be pretzels. We’re thinking of adding the cheese
sauce. 12/23 will be pizza from Ame1’s. Thank you to the volunteers on this committee and to
Dina for organizing it all.
Thanksgiving Treat- Kristen Zalewski: You’re Sweet as Pie. The teachers will be given pies from
Shop Rite in either pumpkin, apple, coconut custard and pecan. The staff is super apprecia1ve.
Paw Print Murals-Kristen Zalewski: We are 10 paws away from our goal. No paws can be added
once it’s finalized.

fundraiser in the past. We just want to get the word out there.

10/1. About a week before they end, I will send out an email to see if there were
any issues that we need to correct. It’s going well!

home today and tomorrow. Several staff and faculty members will be playing.

Panther Paw Mural Sale- Maryellen Brucato- Mrs. Stager added that lots of
volunteers will be needed to help paint in January. The artist will be doing a
residency. Amazing legacy to leave at a school. Only time to add paw prints is now.
It really brings the whole school together.
Holiday Craft Fair- Saturday, 12/7. Tables will be sent to vendors that make their
own stuff. As John said, we’ve already sold some. The grinch and Santa will be

Panther blankets will be for sale. It will be a really fun day.
Little Bites/Box Tops- Stephanie Straface- A bunch have already been collected.

Treasurer’s Report: Dania Rosenthal- Budget Review
We had a great year last year. Revenues were $55K compared to a budgeted $38K. Expenses were $38K compared to a budgeted $39K. There was a surplus of $17K. The expense budget this year is $52K and revenue budget is $40K. We expect a surplus of $12K. This year, there is a budgeted increase in expenses for the following line items: field day, class trips, wish lists, 5th grade recognition and PV Park, class allowance, bookworm. In regards to field day, the budgeted expenses have been increased due to inflation and cost of goods and food going up. This year we have three 5th grade classes instead of two, the expense budget has gone up to accommodate the increase in students. If there is anyone who has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
Vice President’s Report: Deb Zegler- HSA Directory Currently we have 121 HSA members enrolled for the 2022-23 school year. HSA membership is a requirement for class parents and committee chairs. Correspondence Secretary’s Report: Tracy Sanders There are quite a few correspondences to talk about. There were thank you notes from teachers who expressed their appreciation for the support they received from the HSA last year. I.e. Mrs. Munro, Mrs. Sedran and Mrs. Bellis were among a few. 5th graders wrote letters letting the HSA know how much fun they had at last year's 5th Grade PV Park Day. “It was the best day ever,” one student wrote. The 3rd grade teachers wrote thank you notes to the HSA for hosting the Welcome Back Staff Breakfast. Apparently the parfaits were a big hit!

Lauren Diakakis asked the following question: “if houses are booed more than one time will the boos stay up for as many times they were booed”? Dina answered the question yes.

Welcome Back Staff Breakfast was a big hit, especially the parfaits. Next year we will nix the gluten free option and replace it with more parfaits. Going forward we will be hosting the breakfast the day after BTSN as this was a preferred date by both the teachers and volunteers.
Soiree- Kelly Battista:
Theme this year will be Studio 54. Save the date will go out October 10th. Tickets will go on sale October 11th. Event date is March 23. There will be some sort of incentive for people who purchase tickets early. More information will be released on October 10th.
Informational Topics: Cathy DeNoia
Committee sign-ups – Cathy DeNoia:
All committee chairs have been filled but we are still in need of committee volunteers. Sign ups will remain open and available on the HSA website and HSA facebook.
Shoprite Price Plus/Box Tops/BIC recycling – Deanna Albert:
Deanna was not present, however Cathy read an email from her letting us know to please ask parents to download the Box Tops app. We only have 43 people using the app. Parents are asked to send their kids to school with empty little bites packages. Kids like putting them in the collection box at lunchtime. Last year we received $104 back from Terracycle from collecting empty little bite packages and BIC supplies. Hillview is still participating in Shoprite and Amazon Smiles programs. There is a box outside for BIC recycling. Anything from pens, glue sticks and watercolor paints can be recyceled.
